Revona — Terms of Service

Last updated: 31 October 2026 · Applies to the Revona app

Revona is a forecasting aid, not a guarantee and not a safety service. It tells you what the space-weather and cloud data suggest. The aurora is a natural phenomenon and the forecast is often wrong in both directions — you may go out and see nothing, or stay in on a night that turned out spectacular.

Please read section 3. Chasing the aurora means being outdoors, at night, in the cold, often far from help. Every decision about whether that is safe for you is yours.

1. Agreeing to these terms

By installing or using Revona you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.

2. What Revona does, and what it does not

Revona reads public geomagnetic and weather data, works out how it applies to a place you have pinned, and gives you a single verdict with the reasoning behind it.

It does not promise that you will see the aurora. Forecasting it is genuinely uncertain: the data is a few hours old by the time anyone sees it, cloud forecasts are approximate, and the aurora itself can flare or fade within minutes. A confident verdict is still a prediction.

Data comes from NOAA and Open-Meteo. If either is unavailable, Revona shows you the last data it has, labelled with the time it was fetched, rather than pretending it is current.

3. Safety — please read this one

Revona is not a safety service and must not be relied on as one. It does not know about road conditions, avalanche risk, tides, wildlife, ice, temperature, or whether anyone knows where you are.

You are responsible for your own safety and for the decisions you make: where you go, when, how you travel, what you take, and whether to go at all. Tell someone your plans. Check the actual weather and road conditions from a proper source. Do not drive while tired because an app said tonight was the night.

Never use the app while driving.

4. Who may use it

You must be old enough to agree to a contract where you live, and old enough to make your own decisions about going outdoors at night. If you are under that age, an adult should be making these decisions with you.

5. Revona Pro

Revona is free to use with one pinned place. Revona Pro is available as an auto-renewing monthly subscription, or as a one-off pass that unlocks the same features for 14 days and then ends by itself.

The monthly subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancel through your App Store or Google Play account settings, not through us — we cannot cancel it for you. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you have already paid for runs to its end.

Prices are shown in your own currency by the store at the moment you buy, and that is the price that applies.

6. Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple and Google, and their refund policies apply. We cannot issue a refund for a purchase we never received the money for. Contact Apple or Google support, and tell us too if something went wrong — it helps us fix it.

7. Changes to the price

If the subscription price changes, existing subscribers are notified by the store in advance and asked to agree before the new price takes effect. It is never applied silently.

8. Your data

How Revona handles your data is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Your sighting log and photos stay on your phone. The one exception is a picture you attach yourself to a message to us (privacy policy, section 11).

9. Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, resell access to it, or use automated means to extract data from it in bulk. The underlying space-weather and cloud data is public and free — take it from NOAA and Open-Meteo directly rather than through us.

10. Availability

We aim to keep Revona running but cannot promise it will always be available. The service depends on data providers we do not control, and it may be interrupted for maintenance, faults, or reasons beyond us. Features may change or be withdrawn as the app develops.

11. No warranties

Revona is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law where you live allows. We do not warrant that forecasts will be accurate, that alerts will arrive, or that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

12. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for a journey that produced no aurora, for an alert that did not arrive, or for anything arising from your decision to go outdoors. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the app changes. The date at the top will change with them, and material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Revona afterwards means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
